Solid Waste and Recycling Collection

Starting January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2028 Emterra Environmental USA Corp will be our solid waste and recycling company. Below is some detail for collection.
Collection day is Wednesday. Please have your garbage and recyclables at curbside by 6:00 am.
Use plastic bags designed for solid waste, tied at top and not to exceed 30 gallons and more than 50 pounds in weight.
96 gallon carts for solid waste are available from Emterra at a reduced cost to purchase or lease.
One large item per week such as stove, washer, dryer, furniture, carpet scraps or rolls (cut into 4ft lengths and tied or bundled and not to exceed 50 pounds), refrigerators and air conditioners. Doors and Freon must be removed and item must be tagged. A local heating/cooling company can do this and possibly take the refrigerator off your hands. Please call 989-658-2594 in advance to let them know you are putting a large item out for pick up.
If New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day falls on a work day, collection will be the next working day. Work day is Monday-Saturday.
Collection will be the next work day if there is a delay in service caused by weather/unforeseen incidents.. You can call 877-609-6753 to find out if collection will be postponed due to weather.
22 gallon recycling bins are available at the township hall. Other bins or containers may be used but must be clearly labeled 'Recycling' or it will be left at curbside and tagged as non-compliant or could be mistaken as solid waste. Recycling stickers for non-traditional recycling bins are available at the township hall.
No hazardous materials, liquids of any kind, yard waste mixed with solid waste, carbonated beverage containers, large automobile/truck parts, whole tires, stone, rock or dirt, steel, iron, large amounts of construction or demolition material or any other as banned by the State statute.
If you have any problems, call customer service at 989-658-2594. If the situation does not get taken care of in a timely fashion, please call the township supervisor.
